Eyeliner (liquid, gel, cream or pencil) is probably the most important make-up item for contouring and enhancing the beauty of your eyes. You can wear it alone (on the upper or lower lash line) and already make a difference. Some colour can help your eye colour stand up more than you can imagine, it’s all [...]

First thing I will say about this product is that is neither a lipstick nor a gloss. Revlon found a suitable name for it: “lipglaze”. It is a mixture between melted lipstick and gloss. It feels more like a lipstick on the lips but looks more like a gloss. I was very intrigued by some reviews on YouTube so, I’ve tried it myself. The shade I’ve chosen was Continuous Pink: a very light baby pink with gold reflex. The variety of shades is pretty large going form extremely light to very dark shades.
As we all know, make-up is used by us, common people to enhance beauty; but make-up can also be used to hide and correct some imperfections. Using small but effective make-up tricks you can solve many problems that make you feel uncomfortable. The idea behind these tricks is to know how to use darker and lighter shades, to play with shadows and light. Here are some examples:
1. a prominent or longer nose: in order to solve this problem you need three make-up essentials, a lighter concealer or foundation, a darker shade of foundation or concealer and powder to set everything. You can skip powder if you want. The concealer must be applied in the centre of the nose and the dark foundation at the base of the nose. The light will hit the centre of your nose (where the lighter shade is) and its base will be hidden (where you have applied the darker shade). Longer noses will look shorter if you use the darker shade on the end of the nose.
The set consists in 5 shades of eyeliners, from the left in the picture: Covet (deep green), Lucky (bronze copper), Lust (brilliant violet), Zero (true black) and Electric (bright teal blue).
The set can be found at Sephora (at least I bought it there), for around 20$. The pencil eyeliners are not full size, they come in small travel sizes. The full size weights 1.2 g and costs 17$ each.
I’ve wanted them for so long, because I’ve heard a lot of good things about them. Actually, I wanted to try the black one, Zero, but I bought the set, just to try other shades, too. Out of the 5 shades, I love the black one and the teal blue (Electric), the rest are pretty ordinary (in terms of shades), at least to me.

These are some of my newest favourite earrings (made out of semi-precious stones, crystals or glass beads):
Recently, MAC announced the launch of a new collection, in collaboration with Mexican designer Rodarte, initially called MAC Juarez. At first, this seemed as a very interesting idea, a collection that mixed Mexican features with MAC’s great popularity in terms of make-up and beauty. Few of us, the common consumers, knew (I include myself in this category) what Juarez is.
Juarez, actually Ciudad Juarez is the largest city in Northern Mexico, at the US border, near El Paso, Texas. The city has the highest population growth in North America, the criminal activity also increased, reaching the highest level in the world. Some experts called it the most unsafe place in the world. What is really the creepiest thing about it is the fact that the city is well known for the series of women corpses found in the nearby desert, starting from 2003. The police investigations revealed that they were kidnapped, raped, tortured and killed. Their number is unknown, I’ve read that there were over 50 corpses found there, starting from 2003. The real number of victims is guarded by the officials. The El Paso Times spoke about nearly 340 victims, from 1993. Police found suspects, but some believe the corrupt system might involve some police officials in the brutal killings, suspecting a huge cover-up. The city’s fast and continuous development is caused by the anarchic industrialisation, which led to the exploitation of women that work in factories for minimal wages, in extremely poor conditions, in late night shifts. That situation forced them to walk alone, unprotected and exposed.
Clinique’s Superfit foundation was a very nice surprise for me.
First of all I was never a huge fan of Clinique products (nothing seemed to work for me) and I was not keen on trying their make-up for a long time. Now I know why. That is because I was using the wrong products (those that were not specific for my skin type). Now, after I finally understood, I’ve included Clinique’s 3 Step System in my daily skincare routine and I just adore it. Actually I am addicted to it. I said lets try their make-up.
I got this foundation from my sister. She hated it. She said she looked yellow and shiny. I think she has drier skin than mine. I gave it a try and I don’t regret it. Before hand I should say that I have combination/oily skin. According to the specification on the product, this foundation is specially created for oily skin. It claims to give a matte finish, to be long wearing and the formula is non oil whatsoever. This is the official description more or less. The formula is very “watery”. To be honest, I was not expecting that from a foundation for oily skin.
Maybelline has a huge range of lip products (hydrating lipsticks, shiny lipsticks, glosses, long wear lipsticks etc). In my opinion they do a much better job with these products than with mascaras. I liked all their lipstick collections (Moisture Extreme – my most favorite one, Watershine, Color Sensational, Superstay), generally because they have a huge range of shades and they are very affordable. From what I know, lipstick is the cheapest make-up product (in terms of costs for a company), that is why I was rarely tempted to buy high end lipsticks.
Maybelline confirms it. Often expensive lipsticks are worst than drugstore. From my experience, you can not go wrong with Maybelline or Rimmel lipsticks. They can always be compared with high end brands like Yves Saint Laurent, Dior, Clinique or even MAC.
